Her right leg and arm hugged her life-sized bubblerbeast, Monsieur Bulles, and the lower half of her face was hidden behind his plush—a good thing, since she was drooling a little.
Clorinde was sitting on the bed, her hand on Furina's shoulder. In her dazed state, the girl couldn't read the neutral expression in her former bodyguard's face. Her lips were closed in a thin line, and her cheeks were slightly flushed. Weird."

"When the Fourth Harbinger leaned down and kissed the remains of cake on her lips, Furina had a general idea of where this was going. She could feel the woman’s pulse when she dove her fingers into her hair and her quickened breath through her nose.
Furina herself wasn’t in a much better state. Her body was suddenly coming alive under the Harbinger’s touch and her brain wouldn’t shut up, justifying the wrongness of it with fact upon fact. It was almost a relief when Arlecchino’s tongue found its way to her lips and Furina’s mind went completely blank."

Clorinde does not shout, but she feels it rattle through her, as world-breaking as a kiss, and she thinks of the audience as the waves of an ocean buying Lady Furina towards the sun.
