Summary
“Hello, Mother,” Telemachus calls out to her.
He’s glad to see some of the exhaustion weighing down on her evaporate from her shoulders as he moves to stand next to her on the balcony. As Telemachus rests his elbows on the ledge and gazes down unto the city below, he hopes his presence could bring his mother at least some degree of comfort.
He wants her to know she's not alone in this.
And he'll show her in all the little ways that matter.
Telemachus watches the little specks of Ithacans bustle about in the marketplace. He watches the women run about— many performing what would normally be the men’s duties.
“Telemachus.” He jolts out of his train of thought as his mother places a hand on his arm. “You are making that face again. The one that screams, 'I need to talk to you.'” She clicks her tongue.
“What? I make no such face,” but even as he says this, he feels his voice strain to keep its neutrality, and he knows it’s a hopeless cause. “…Ah. Am I really that obvious?”
His mother laughs.
(Or: Telemachus’ upbringing, and the consequences that follow prior to Circe and Aeaea.)

Summary
Penelope was surprised when her son came to her talking about wanting to go on a diplomatic mission to Sparta.
She was unsure when he told her that he had been spending the past two months secretly learning how to fight and sail.
And she was furious when she noticed an owl watching her son the way that same owl watched her missing husband.Bookmarked by Animekitty29

"Well, Penelope for one." The two men, and some others walking by, groaned.
"My gods, not her again."

Summary
He's about to head off when Odysseus stops him with a thank you. Hermes stills, tilting his head slightly, "Don't thank me friend, I'm not the one who fought for you," he offers, bemused; he'd have gone directly to the power behind the throne.
Hera might not like Zeus' bastard children, but she does generally hear them out before trying to smite them.
These days."Then who..?" Odysseus murmurs, and Hermes' heart breaks, just a little. He truly can't imagine that anyone would fight for him. And why would he? From what Hermes' heard through the grapevine, last he knew, Athena was no longer his mentor, let alone his friend.
Hermes sighs, internally, lest his great-grandson get the wrong idea, before dropping down to sit on the raft with Odysseus.
Looks like he's really doing this, then.Or: What else was Hermes meant to do? Not invite himself along to the end of a twenty year journey?
Please, it's practically his job!Bookmarked by Animekitty29
