    Stede shook his head. “My first time kissing another man. My first time kissing anyone that I wanted to kiss, really.” He blushed. “I don’t know how.”

    Ed smiled and laid Stede back against the pillows, draping himself over the man and holding his waist once more. “This good? We can just stay like this,” Ed whispered, propping his head up with an arm on the side of the sofa. Ed had been with many men before, and many men had pined after Blackbeard. But never before had he found himself content in simply keeping a lover company. No one else held a candle to Stede.

    “Well, I’d very much like to know how,” Stede mused, fiddling with the lace of his sleeves and averting his eyes. It would have sounded coy — like a practised line, even — if it weren’t for the wobble in Stede’s voice.

    “Don’t worry,” Ed reassured. “I’ll show you.”
