I can’t believe nothing happens when a Watford student disappears. What if I disappeared? Would they just shrug and say “He’s an adult. He’s on his own”?
I mean, I’ve been on my own a lot, but Penny was always there for the hardest parts. Plus, I can take care of myself. When has Baz ever had to do that? With his servants and minions constantly waiting on him.
He’s probably fine. He’s probably plotting against me.
I just wish he’d plot here.

Baz -
Simon Snow doesn’t love me.
I have been waiting for this day to happen, since the moment he first shoved his hands in my hair and kissed me.
“You don’t have finals! You aren’t a student!” I'm screaming. I should stop, there is no way this is actually helping. I keep going. “You’re 26, you own a cafe! You’re not my roommate!” I backtrack, stuttering out the words, “I-I mean you are. But not-not just my-I mean, you’re my husband.” I can’t help it, I say it again. “You’re my husband.” It comes out less like a statement, and more like I am begging.
Simon is staring at me, eyes wide.

Summary
Simon Snow is a social worker in the Department of Magical Creature Management. His caseload consists of goblins, werewolves, and other dark creatures whom the Coven monitors for the safety and well being of the World of Mages. Simon’s world is upended one day when his old Watford roommate, Baz Pitch, walks into his office. After being outed as a vampire at the age of 27, Baz is now subjected to a year of bi-monthly check-ins with his former nemesis before he can live under more “limited” surveillance by the Coven.
Now, seeing Baz again, having him under his “care,” forces Simon to confront his view of Baz, and makes him wonder whether the Coven’s policies towards dark creatures are justified. Is it too late for Simon to make amends with Baz?
