Summary
The cat simply meows again. Buck suddenly remembers Eddie is gone. He huffs, standing up and looking around again. “Where did Eddie go?” he mumbles. “Did he run away?”
A meow. Buck tilts his head. “Did you see him leave, Mr. Kitty? Tell me the truth.”
Mr. Kitty claws at his legs again.
Suddenly, something dawns on Buck. Smoke, Eddie’s sudden disappearance, a cat showing up in his place…
No. It can’t be. Can it?
“...Eddie?” he says tentatively, reaching down to slowly pick the cat up.
Mr. Kitty meows ferociously.
Buck finds out Eddie's secret(s).

Summary
Whumptober 2025 - Day Twenty-Six - Relapse
One thousand seven-hundred and fifteen days.
He used to be proud of that number. This morning, when it still mattered. He used to feel pride every morning when the number went up. Another day gone. Passed without him cutting himself open in a desperate attempt to- god, he doesn’t even know why he did it anymore. Or… does it. No. No, this was a one time thing. Just a little slip, but he still had his grip. He wasn’t going to fall any further down the self-mutilating slope.
That’s what he told himself as he washed his blood down the drain.
That’s what he told himself when he didn’t bandage his arm.
That’s what he told himself when he stopped wearing short sleeves.
That’s what he kept telling himself every night when he reopened more of his scars.

Summary
“A week,” Eddie sighed. “We can do this, right?”
Eddie’s gaze was pleading, needing assurance and comfort. His eyebrows were pinched in the middle of his forehead and Buck wanted to reach out and smooth it out with his thumb. Instead, he said, “’Course we can. We’ve faced tsunamis, beenados, earthquakes, broken dams… hey, where do we think the Diaz Parents Staying For A Week ranks?”
“Most likely to end in death,” Eddie muttered.
Buck clicked his tongue as he pulled the bowls from the cabinet for the salad, “That’s the lightning strike, actually.”

The Diaz parents showing up unexpectedly to the shared Buckley-Diaz household leads to some unexpected confrontations, late night conversations, and over due confessions.

Summary
Eddie loved his son. He loved his son so, so much. He would never stop fighting for his son. It didn’t matter if his helicopter was getting shot down in a desert halfway across the world, or if he was nearly drowning while trapped under thirty feet of mud, or if he was crawling on hands and knees back to El Paso in contrition, he was going to do whatever it took to be with Christopher.
But he had also just kissed Buck for the first time ninety minutes ago, and he was supposed to have 1,440 more minutes of kissing before they had to go back to the real world. Eddie had waited seven years for this, he wanted twenty-four hours of uninterrupted necking with the love of his life, god dammit.

Summary
"Buried under the giggles and silly jokes, Buck had made a pun just awful enough to have Chimney happily groaning out a ‘shut up!’.
Eddie’s eyes had already been on Buck, waiting for him to look over so he would properly see Eddie’s eye-roll at the wordplay, so that was the only reason he saw how Buck’s smile didn’t dim, but it did lock in place as Buck bowed his head a little.
Something acidic twisted in Eddie’s stomach when he saw Buck’s lips curve down once he’d assumed no one would see.
[...]
Every time one of them would inadvertently - almost always jokingly - tell Buck to stop talking, Buck would."
