Summary
A Life, so cold. A Death yet colder.
Another Life, as warm as the fire in his heart, and the sun on his scaled hide. A world as open, as free, as the sky itself...If he could muster the courage to leave his cave. Being a weird, horrifying troll monstrosity doesn't exactly promote a healthy social life, after all, and he...really wouldn't be surprised if some hillbilly saw him, and decided the correct response was Flamethrower. So, yeah...The Cave sound's nice.
And he would've been perfectly content with that cave, if it weren't for a young girl, with a big heart, and a bigger injury that keeps her in said cave long enough he gets attached.
Because easy was for other people, apparently.

Summary
Dr. Kel thought he would like working alone, not having to answer to anyone or have anyone looking over his shoulder. After a week of total isolation in the Dunkeltaler Array, crushing loneliness and paranoia starts to take hold.
Which is only amplified further when he learns that he's not alone.
He's not sure if it's due to his rapidly declining mental state or his desperate need for social interaction, but when faced with something inhuman and dangerous, rather than run away, he tries to reach out to it.
