Summary
Sometimes Celebrimbor did wish he could remember what precisely had killed him. That was the real trouble. Mandos had been able to make no progress on him because of it. Celebrimbor had been judged hopeless and sent to dwell with those who hardly counted themselves among his family, disturbing their sterile peace. He had hoped that Valinor would have been different. The little he knew of his extended family had said they might be. The picture Finrod’s stories had drawn — soft pastels and bright oils, all of it underpainted by joy — was certainly not this.
But eons had worn by. Even the inhabitants of Valinor could not be preserved, unchanging, as if in amber.
What Celebrimbor does in captivity isn’t quite dreaming, but it’s certainly a nightmare.

Summary
The originals of the following pages were received in a bundle, arranged in an approximate order but bound only in the temporary fashion customary for field notes in the early 1500s. I have transcribed them for your archives, though certain elements, such as the flora pressed between some of the pages or the stains on others, are irreproducible and I have noted them accordingly. The headings are mine, and the transcription also includes my commentary on some of the more obscure points in the text as well as my reproduction of the original marginalia. Although the identities of the respective authors were evident from the handwriting in the original, in this copy I have taken the liberty of inserting indications as to their identity.

Summary
“You have what you desire,” Celebrimbor calls out from above, the first and only words he has spoken to Mairon since arriving at the wall. “Now leave.”
—
In another lifetime, this would be a siege. In another lifetime, Mairon would storm the gates of the city in pursuit of the rings of power. In another lifetime, Celebrimbor would die.
This time, Celebrimbor relinquishes the rings without a fight, and Mairon's curiosity may just save them both.

Annie fears everything. She can't have conscience or morality as her principle, otherwise she can't do anything. Her actions are judged inconsistent. Reiner says her heart is a paradox. She is considered ridiculous. But she is the only one who seeks the truth.
