She thought about the way his smile lines had carved into his cheeks only minutes before. The way he’d gone after the Void- himself- to protect her. The way he effortlessly brought laughter and joy to the tower day after day, even when the team had just dragged themselves back in from a grueling mission or PR stunt. There were so many reasons.
“Not so you could be a big bad super hero, Bob. Because I saw myself in you, and it gave me something to fight for. And then I spent time with you, however short, but it grows longer every day and only makes me more sure. You might carry a Void with you, Reynolds, but the world would be a much darker place without you in it. I don’t want to return to that world.”

“JJ,” John B breathed.
