When Tommy—a self-termed brilliant and passionate musician—first butts heads with small-town barista Techno, he doesn’t expect to form a long-lasting connection that heals them both.

Or, in which ex-violinist Techno doesn’t know what he’s missing until it shows up on his doorstep and demands a cup of coffee.

    Bookmarker's Notes

Absolutely beautiful piece about music and acceptance and family and friendship.

    Highlight quote:

Technoblade had no words to describe the sounds that reached his ears. He could only feel the swell of emotion in his chest as the band rose to its first crescendo, soaring over high notes and dipping below with embellishments that made his heart sing. Each part intertwined like a pair of specialty vines in a garden overrun by weeds—he could pick out an alto sax, a first clarinet, a horn. At the same time, each distinct voice blended together with the beauty of a sunrise with blurred colors.

He could not put musical terms to the piece. It seemed to swell in his mind like the image of a bright light breaching the horizon—dawn, in all its beautiful glory. Reds and oranges and purples and blues and varying shades of each. As trumpets rose and low reeds fell, Techno found his eyes brimming with tears.

    Summary

“Please,” one soldier told Techno over dinner, “The Blood God isn’t going to help you. He doesn’t accept any of the blood sacrifices the generals leave for him, so either he doesn’t exist, or he thinks he’s too good for the likes of us. Either way, it’s best to find a different patron.”
Techno had punched him in the face for that. None of his other comrades ever brought up the Blood God again.
    Well, except for one.
“You follow the Blood God?” the new kid said, staring up at Techno with unbelievably blue eyes.
“Yeah,” Techno replied, perhaps a bit gruffer than he meant to, “What’s it to you?”
“Nothing!” the new kid said, grinning wildly, “I love that guy. He gets all the ladies. Hey, we should be friends!”

Or: Techno is the last devout follower of the Blood God. Tommy may or may not be said god.

The best. Don’t have brain cells or time to properly rant about how often good this fic is. Simply the best. Yup yup. Reread for fun and just yeah. Love love it.

    Summary

There is a lag somewhere inside him. He can say the word but does not remember learning it, can solve the equation but cannot explain how. He knows what each piece of calligraphy correlates to but he cannot force his hands to create the shape; Spock wonders if Jim knows anything of red lights and trembles.

He wonders if he’d like to listen.

    Summary

The Enterprise is visiting a backwater planet for shore leave, and luck would have it that Leonard's favorite punk band from his youth is playing there on tour. He sneaks out of their hotel to attend and learns of punk's long history with non-Earth planets like this one. Leonard also learns that he's not the only Starfleet officer in attendance, and Spock looks damn good in faux leather pants.

    Bookmarker's Notes

Oh so sweet and perfect, I loved this so so much.
Also, this line from chap 9 unexpectedly brought me to tears:
“This song told them it was okay to hate yourself, but you still deserved to be loved.“

Punk Doc healing at the show!
