A soulmate.
Atsushi had never thought much about it before.
Or rather, he tried not to think about it.
To be undeserving of such a construct. The very idea of a soulmate felt… distant. Impossible even. Something for other people. People who weren’t abandoned. Weren’t burdens. People who weren’t weak. The ones deserving of living. People who aren’t him.
And yet… he still hoped. Clinging to the possibility that there was someone out there. There were so many days he spent reading books about soulmates, how the other is supposed to understand you in a way no other person ever could.
It might have been foolish. Selfish, even. But that thought stayed with him, peeking out from the depths of his mind every once in a while.

Summary
