Tonight was all set up to be perfect. Fancy outfits, nice dinner, followed by a cuddle sesh on the couch. The plan went off without a hitch. The food was good. The kisses that followed even better.

They can tell something is wrong, even if he doesn’t say it.

“Angel?” His voice is low, the smooth timbre of his voice roughened by sleep. Their nails click against the ceramic of the tub as their grip flexes, and they release a shuddering breath. “Are you- alright?”
Of course he knew. He can hear their heartbeat, and even if he’d been asleep when they’d first gotten up, he was a light enough sleeper to have noticed their prolonged absence.
“Y-yeah.” Their voice catches on the word, and it’s obvious to the both of them that they’re not. They swallow, looking back down at the clock again. Two minutes. “I’ll- be fine.”

Anton doesn’t say anything. Thomas wants him to, but he knows Anton’s just doing what he asked him to, giving him the room to explain.
Thomas looks at his knees. Reminds himself he can’t make things worse. It doesn’t make him feel any more brave. “But I’m in love with you, so.”
