“What are you talking about? Why were you swimming all the way out here? What’s with your weird clothes?” The Boy, whom I refuse to name on principle, starts rapid fire shooting out questions while wiggling his way across the tiny boat to me.
“This is actually happening. Oh my god this is real, what the shit…” I turn around from my position on the floor to see The Boy crouched inches from my face. I give an undignified yelp and scramble as far back as I can without tipping over the edge.
He gives me that bright grin and announces “I’m Monkey D. Luffy! I’m gonna be King of the Pirates!” Then he cocks his head to the side. “Who’re you?”

Summary
There was a well-kept secret, hidden away in the Cloud Recesses by all of the Lan clan and its sub-clans, protected by the mist and the morning dew. It was the reason for the many, many rules that were inscribed on the Wall of Rules, and the reason as to why almost no outsider ever married into the clan.
The secret had to do with long shadows and dark nights; with proportions distorted and patched up wrongly, with the high notes of Inquiry and the cadences of musical cultivation so complicated and painstakingly perfect that it was a language all of its own. Of forehead ribbons and restraint -- and of many, many, many eyes gleaming in the darkness.
The cultivators of Gusu Lan were not made up of humans at all, but of human-shaped things that played pretend for generations upon generations because their forefathers had done the same.
Lan Wangji hated it.

Summary
Shen Yuan counts himself extremely lucky to transmigrate as an NPC so insignificant he doesn't even merit his own System. Sure, he's starting to get the inkling he may be shaping up to be some Wise Sage side bit in a poorly written papapa arc, but that's not an automatic death sentence, right? He can do whatever he wants! Go interesting places, see interesting animals, meet interesting people, and get saddled with babysitting gigs by demons who've no idea how to raise humans.
An easy life.
