“Get George.” The queen commanded, her voice escaping in weak, yet relentless sobs. “Please.”
    If she was going, Charlotte wanted to be held by the man she loved, or at the very least see his face again. She did not care that he did not love her. She did not care of what he had said. She was dying, and she could pretend.

    A rewrite in which George says he does not love Charlotte, so she goes back to Buckingham House to have the baby alone, fill her days and survive.
    Yet in the turmoil of birth, she demands to see him one last time.
