Summary
Adding a slightly comedic spin on No, I'm Not A Human. The pale visitor, instead of instantly killing the protagonist, decides to toy with him by refusing to leave his house, much to the protagonist's chagrin. This plot to torment the protagonist, however, brings them closer than comfort and they quickly realize that they’re better off working together. In this apocalypse, however things can get very dangerous, very quickly.

I can’t tell if it’s her… or something wearing her skin. My chest tightens, my mind screaming not to open the door, but the part of me that’s lonely, desperate, and stubborn won’t look away. Something about her calls to me, even if every instinct warns that this isn’t the woman I lost.

the protagonist lets something in that he thinks is his wife... until he realizes it isn't at the last moment.

His work here is almost done.
The countryside burns, the bodies stack up, the world becomes cleaner. Were this anywhere else, he'd be moving on, continuing his work, migrating with the swathes of people as they tried in vain to escape.
But there's just one thing keeping him here. His little secret.
The house on the hill, one of the few with the lights still on. His favorite place, with his favorite person. One of the last few pleasures he allows himself.
One particular night, he decides to indulge.
