“I didn’t think you cared.” Alastor’s tone was light, detached, but there was an edge beneath it. The hand on Vox’s wrist tightened, not enough to break his hold, but enough to remind him exactly who he was dealing with.
Vox’s teeth bared. “Of course I fucking cared.”
Alastor’s gaze darkened. His smile lingered, but it lost some of its ease, sharpened into something dangerous.
“We hate each other,” Alastor murmured.
Vox’s fingers flexed around Alastor’s throat. His claws punctured skin, dark blood seeping beneath his fingertips. Alastor’s breath hitched, but the smile on his face only widened.
“You wish,” Vox growled.
And then he kissed him.
