Reo bites her lip. “You made me a vow,” she spits, voice shivering. Nagi’s blood runs cold. “The contract isn't over yet— you're not…”
“What is it, boss?” Nagi whispers instead. “What do you want from me?”
“You can't leave me,” Reo says, tone frigid. “You can't run away from me again.”
Ah, Nagi thinks, plucking Reo’s hands from her collar to rest against her cold neck. So that's the issue, is it?
“In that case,” Nagi says, letting her hands cup Reo’s against her neck. Reo’s eyes widen—she sucks in a stuttered breath, making a noise like a wounded animal—as Nagi presses their hands down, nails digging into pale skin. “Reo, if you take my legs, I won't be able to run, right?”
