For a time, Naruto had thought that she was finally seeing him. Maybe he’d fooled himself. Fooled himself into thinking that the way she’d hugged him after Pain’s attack meant something more.
“I…—Sasuke’s leaving the village,” she whispered, as if she was just as afraid of breaking the silence.
“Are you waiting for him, Sakura?” His grip on her thigh tightened subconsciously, as if he could physically hold her to him. If he asked her, would she choose him?

Summary
When Uzumaki Naruto was young and invincible, he saved the world, you know. Living in that world turned out to be a lot harder than he anticipated, but if there's one thing he knows it's that even when you're waiting on the planets to align so you can maybe get what you want, the stars keep moving. They're moving all the time. Is it really so hard to believe that eventually they'll move your way? Sakura doesn't always believe the same way he does, but she's learning to trust him anyway. He hasn't let her down yet.

Summary
Sometimes, Naruto wished he could do it all over again. He liked to think he could fix some stuff if he tried. If he lived his life a little differently, made some better choices along the way, understood a key truth or two a little earlier, then maybe he wouldn't be so unhappy. Maybe everyone else would be happier, too.
Or maybe he would do everything exactly the same way only faster, more efficiently, and worse. That was always a possibility.
