Summary
Just before he collides with Four, he skids to a stop and removes the makeshift shield from under his feet. Wild catches his breath, then proceeds to stop breathing.
“That’s a kid,” he says. “You have a child in your arms,” he repeats, as though saying it again will make it any less real. Four wishes it would.
“I didn’t notice,” Four says, his voice somewhere between dry and amused. He wonders if his face used to have that same flavor of pure panic that Wild’s has now. And that’s before he’s even figured out the kid is Sky.
