They have a boozy night out in a proper pirate tavern, the fruity cocktails and lively atmosphere giving the co-captains the push they need.

“Anyway,” he continues, “then Ed — that is, Blackbeard, bent over me and said—”“Do the Blackbeard voice!” Wee John exclaims.
“He does voices?” asks Finn, in an awed whisper.
Wee John scoffs. “Of course he does voices. He’s our captain.”
Well. Stede can hardly disappoint, then. He clears his throat and thinks of Ed’s voice: its lower pitch, roughened with a hint of rasp, the heavier tongue that drags his vowels and thickens his consonants. “The Gentleman Pirate, I presume.”
In which Stede accidentally convinces the pirating world that Gentlebeard (or Blackbonnet or Stedward; there's a poll) is canon, reunites his crew, and gets his boyfriend back.

Summary
Ed loves sex. Like, really fucking loves sex. Orgasms, specifically. He loves a few other things, too, but god, does he love sex.
With Stede, though, something's been holding him back, and he can't quite put his finger on it. And after all the stops and starts, all the simmering tension between them, Ed would never have imagined that this would be what finally pushes things over the edge.
