Summary
The Phoenix Saga
Ranma, trapped in their feminine form, leaves the Tendo Dojo in search of a "normal" life. With the Full Body Cat's Tongue rendering them unable to take a hit and putting martial arts largely out of her life, she flees from the Tendo home. After months homeless in Tokyo, she finds love and acceptance in a found family of strong women that run a bar in Tokyo called the Phoenix. She learns to confront and heal from the traumas of her past, comes to terms with herself as a woman, falls madly in love with Akane, and discovers a new calling - as a singer and songwriter.
Book XII: Mekong
Ranko rushes home from Australia as her world collapses back in Japan. The Phoenix sisters, and an unexpected ally, must come together to fight for each other and everything they hold dear. Ranko begins life as a college student. Old wounds reopen, and Ranko must face them with her support system behind her. As Ranko and the Dapper Dragons head to the Philippines to begin the second leg of their international tour, tensions with Yokai Records threaten the future of the band.

After spending a few months homeless in Tokyo, Ranma ends up getting a job in a bar run by a found family consisting of the owner and four hard-luck girls that work there and now live as sisters. Ranma finds a place where she can be accepted and "normal," learns to deal with the trauma she's experienced and finds acceptance with her new family. As she does so, she also learns to live as a young woman, discovering a new talent and career as a singer.
Book IX: Soar
In the finale of Phoenix Ascendant, Ranko and Akane must navigate 3 families: Ranko's Phoenix family, the Tendos, and Saotomes. Ranko and Nodoka have a battle of wills. Ranko's second album and senior year of high school are under way, and it's finally time for wedding bells! (Unless something goes wrong...) Either way, their lives will change forever!
