Regina never expected to be here. Hell she never expected to be apart of this asinine plan, but here she was, and she was the scapegoat. How? She'd no clue, but Emma claimed True Love and now they were both in this mess.
Or the one in which Emma completely lies about her happiness and brings Regina into her hair-brained lie and claims Regina is her soon to be wife and that she's pregnant with their True Love baby. Regina is surely not about to go through this without being as difficult as she could possibly be.

A/U. NO magic. Based off of the original piece 'I can't make you love me' by Bonnie Raitt, though I've gotten more urge to write it from Adele's cover of the song.
Emma and Regina both grow up in different states, where they meet by chance on summer holidays at the time both girls are four. They grow into friendship and something akin to a relationship.. At least that's what Regina's hoping it is, but Emma's never clear with her on anything. They go through ups and downs, moving to yet another state, new schools, new friends, new interests and then off to college where it really hits a new level of angst.It's the coming of age story that doesn't dabble too deeply into usual teenage recklessness, but the questions is.. Will they fall in love or not?
There's angst, there's tears and there's let downs as well as pick ups, but there's also pictorial boards to help you get a better view of it.
Do keep in mind that there are multiple things about the characters that I have changed, though not drastically, it just ranges from hair colour to birthdays in essence.

There, nestled awkwardly against the base of the steps, was a child.
A girl. Young, eighteen months? Maybe twenty. Her cheeks were red from crying, and her nose running, her little fists clenched around a fraying scrap of blanket. No coat. Just a too-thin dress and tights, dusted with dirt and morning chill.
Regina’s breath caught in her throat. She took a step forward. The child flinched.

Her heart lurched even before she read it.Back in the Enchanted Forest, Regina had instituted a policy that allowed unwanted children to be surrendered to the Royal Guard if the surrendering parent provided the child's name and the kingdom in which they were born, along with the name of the monarch.
This child had been left in front of the sheriff's station, as close to the royal guard as one would find in Storybrooke.
