Summary
Yu Ziyuan has been dead for over a hundred years, so it's a bit of a surprise when she dies.
One minute she's watching the youngest Lan daughter bow to her ancestors—it still baffles her that Wei Wuxian counts her as an ancestor, and that he's filial enough to have had a plaque made for her, but here they are—and the next she's choking on blood, her eyesight dimming. Things do not always go smoothly, but sometimes the family you find is the one you should have had all along.
It's a pretty light Mature that could probably have been okay as a heavy Teen. Fully written and beta-read; 73k of raising children, standing up for what one values, and falling in love.

Lan Wangji breathes.
There is a tattered red ribbon trailing through the water beside him, and below him, a crooning, echoing song that clears his mind and stops him from struggling against the waves.
Lan Wangji breathes, and sleeps, and wakes again.
When he opens his eyes on the beach to find Huan-ge and Shufu crying over his body, he hears a lifeguard say that he was underwater for almost half an hour.
