Shouyou was always there to provide Kiyoomi with the help he needed. If he was overwhelmed and needed space, he would do anything to ensure that. If he was aching and his joints hurt, he would notice it without a word and offer him a massage. It warmed him up —it always did. The tips of his ears would usually burn red by the end.But although the blush never dulled, he started feeling imprisoned by his own feelings. Kiyoomi always took time to digest his emotions and come to terms with them, and despite seeing no need in hiding them from Shouyou, he felt as if they went unperceived, and he felt helpless.

The hospital room is cramped and undecorated, save for a distinctly colorful plush of some unidentifiable creature and several children’s toys that look like they were purchased from a discount store on the way over. Undoubtedly, one of Wakatoshi’s former teammates stopped by and abandoned something weird with him. He stares at the table for a moment, unspeaking and half expecting Wakatoshi to acknowledge him first as he so often does.
When he doesn’t, Sakusa realizes he should have rehearsed something to say on the way over, because suddenly he can’t think of a word. Seconds pass and the air grows stale. He would start to panic if he wasn’t already pushed to the point of partial non-responsiveness. He’ll say something. Anything.
“You’re not dead."

“Be more careful. I don’t want to have to worry about you every single time you go off into the desert, Haitham,” Kaveh mumbles, but his tone lacks the fire that it should have. Instead, it comes off soft and concerned, making something twist inside Alhaitham. It leaves him feeling a little thrown off, dizzy and warm from the words and the care they carry.
“Of course, senior,” Alhaitham replies, and his voice comes off just as quiet. A little breathless even. Kaveh’s eyes flick to him, some unknown emotion hidden there, but he doesn’t say anything more as he pushes himself up to stand.
