Jim Moriarty has been in and out of institutions during his whole sorry existence, and he knows that he is going nowhere in life without a university scholarship in his future. He might have to settle for blackmail and scheming, but that's alright, because he's had plenty of practice at both.
Jim has lost a lot in his life, and he's taken plenty too. He doesn't expect that an entitled rich boy on a temporary nasty holiday can change everything and nothing all at once.

Inspired by a fic idea on tumblr : "John and Sherlock know the Yard has a pool going for when they’re finally going to get together. It’s been running forever, and it’s worth thousands of pounds. It’s all fun and games, hahaha, until they find out Lestrade is in dire financial straits (dog needs emergency surgery, he’s putting his kid through gymnastics training, I don’t know, something), and they decide to fake a relationship to win the pool for him. Sherlock figures out the day and way that Lestrade thinks it’s going to happen, and they act it out. It’s all for a good cause, fake relationship style, until it’s not."

Written for the "Let's Write Sherlock" prompt on Tumblr. I used the song "Welcome to My Life" by Simple Plan for my inspiration and the title. Characters belong to Moffattiss and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Plot belongs to me.
Sherlock could see it in their eyes. The pity. The disgust. The open curiosity. They wondered what he could have done that was so horrible that his Master would abandon him on the street, a sign hanging from his neck that welcomed the passerby to take the “worthless, pitiful excuse for a pet” off his hands.

“No, I mean--” John starts, but has to stop as the humid press of a mouth begins a gradual glide down his back, its trail following the curve of his spine as he arches in surprise. “I mean, what’s strange is--I think maybe I should find this--more strange?”
“But you do find it strange,” says the second version of Sherlock in a low rumble, as he presses John back against his own chest again. Only now, John is surprised by the contact of bare skin against his. “And you *like* strange.”
