“Don’t,” she chokes out. “Don’t talk to me. Not like this. Not when you’re...”
Silence, for a moment. Silence and shadows and shaky breaths. It hurts to look at Asami, and it hurts to look away.
“It’s still me,” Asami says at last, her voice bent around a note of desperation, and Korra thinks: No, it’s not.

Summary
Approximately 10,000 years ago, Wan became the first Avatar and locked Vaatu in the tree of time.
Several centuries later Korra, the 7th Avatar, was born. After fleeing into a storm trying to escape her pursuers, Korra wound up entering the avatar state and freezing herself in an iceberg. Over 9,000 years later, after being discovered in the ice by an anthropologist named Asami, she wakes up in a strange new world, where bending has seemingly disappeared, the industrial revolution has turned society on its head, war is tearing apart the Earth Kingdom, a new nation called the United Republic is flooded with refugees, while a theocrat is tightening his grip over the Northern Water Tribe. Avatar Korra will need to learn to navigate this new world and return it to balance, while also preparing for the next Harmonic Convergence.Series

Summary
Asami was pretty fixed on not letting her dad set her up for an arranged marriage. They've been arguing on the matter for years, and every time the subject was brought up, Asami got more and more tired of fighting. So, eventually, she agreed. And not long after her dad informed her that he found a suitable partner. Yay.
Up until what Asami called 'the day of eternal doom', Asami dedicated herself to a rebellious lifestyle, and she never felt more free. It was a good time, doing whatever she wants, whenever she wants, without having any consequences.
That, until consequences caught up to her.

The entire ring of keys slip from her fingers and hit the sidewalk with a crash. “Motherf—” Korra says under her breath, though she cuts herself off.
“Drop something?” the woman asks, her tone kind. Her voice deep. Smoky.
Korra feels her mouth click shut. “Oh, uh… thank you,” she says, and her throat feels dry despite the fact she’s just swallowed.
The woman tilts her head, an amused smile pulling at the corner of her painted lips. But then, as quickly as it appears, it drops. “Korra?”
