"I told you I wouldn't leave you." Jason says as he places a hand on Salim's shoulder, locking his eyes with the other.
Salim shines a bright smile back and responds with a, "Thank you." There was so much he wanted to thank Jason about but he knew Jason also appreciated his help. They wouldn't have survived this hell without each other.
Then it happened. Jason saw it first, the light flashing across Salim's eyes, almost as if a rainbow was passing through.
"No fucking way you're..." Jason exclaimed but he didn't finish his sentence. He stood still staring at Salim with his mouth hanging slightly open.
Salim stopped smiling from the confusion at Jason's words. Jason saw the moment Salim realised, Salim's eyes went wide and he stumbled back."You're my soulmate." Salim finished.

After a moment's hesitation, Salim asked, “Your friend, the alpha… he could read my scent? From that distance?”
“Jason’s got a better nose than anybody,” Nick answered as they walked, “Good enough he can even sniff out landmines. We sorta call him ‘Bloodhound’ for it.”
Salim nodded, knowing he'd have to stay away from ‘Jason’ more than anyone. He’d evaded anyone accidentally discovering his omega orientation before, and he wasn’t about to have a hotheaded jarhead ruin his cover now.
