Summary
After a wildfire, you have two options. Mourn the loss of the forest, or use the fresh soil to rebuild and heal.
A story where Kakashi learns to lean on others just a little earlier, and gives Tsunade a reason to return home, Naruto and Sasuke a family, Sakura an identity, Gai peace of mind, and himself a little bit of hope for the future of the village.
[Basically an entire fix-it plot re-write of Naruto where I fix a lot of the mischaracterization/lost opportunities, mend plot holes, and add in some chakra and jutsu theory because I feel like it.]

This "ninja thing" is turning out to be a lot more than Sakura bargained for.
She signed up for a quick and easy disposable income that she could make starting at the ripe old age of twelve -- not to be meat shield for the most vile, obnoxious, and obviously insane people to walk the earth.
Really she should quit, before she gets ahead of herself, Sakura doesn't want to die and leave her poor dad all alone...
But the pay REALLY is excellent.
A high risk, high reward system if she says so herself.
AND she does come from a long line of gamblers.

Summary
Whomever said "The world is black and white" must have lied. If the world was Black and while, what were all the other colors people saw? Many people saw many different colors, and Sakura? Sakura only saw red from where she stood, glancing at all the bodies surrounding her.

Kakashi watched Sakura as she moved. When did you grow up and get so cool? You certainly didn’t learn that from me.
He turned his gaze to the sky. A single crow wheeled aimlessly among the clouds, and he smiled lightly as he remembered something Ayame said to himself and Naruto when Tsunade was made Hokage.
“The future is female, you know. We girls are gonna do great things!”
Kakashi closed his eyes and grinned under his mask as he felt Sakura’s presence alight beside him, her warm healing chakra stitching his wounds.
Great things, indeed.
