    Long ago, before the dawn of quirks, legends spoke of a master of four elements bringing harmony to the world. But everyone knows that the Avatar is just a folktale, a funny precursor to the quirked world. Still, every once in a while someone is born with a pure elemental quirk. Rare as they are, elemental quirks are powerful. The waterbending hero, Backdraft. The firebender, Endeavor. Yet their powers are a work of genetics, not a spiritual gift like true benders.

    But what if the Avatar is more than a legend?

    Destiny has a way of bringing the right people together. Toph Beifong is born with an earth quirk. From a young age, she’s discouraged from ever using it, until she meets an airbender named Inasa that tells her they could be heroes.
