Summary
“Yeah, well. The world isn’t being particularly kind to him right now. He says he’s used to it, and I think he is in a way, but. Well, it’s very close to home.” Sirius watched as Hope fiddled with her sleeve. She so rarely got fidgety, but Remus being vulnerable was tender territory for her, Sirius realized.
“You think he’s okay?” Hope asked softly.
Sirius thought for a moment. He wanted to give her an honest answer. “I think so. I do. I’m not just saying that.”
“I know,” Hope said. “You never say anything you don’t mean.”
Sirius barked out a laugh. “No, suppose I don’t. He’d tell you not to worry about him.”
“I know. It’s silly. Of course I worry about him. He’s my dad.”
Sirius’ heart squeezed at the thought of how much Moony’s girl loved him. “Yeah, and for a long time it was just you and him, against the world.”
“You didn’t —“
“I’m not trying to get compliments. I’m just saying. You’d worry about him because to you, you’re a team.”
Hope nodded. “Team’s gotten a little bigger, though.”
***
The team has gotten bigger — just in time for the events of Order of the Phoenix.

Summary
Carrying his bag to the kitchen, Remus managed to brew himself a cup of tea, and drink it and eat a couple of pieces of toast. He sent off quick letters to James, Lily, Peter, and even a short one to Harry, filling them in on the fact that he would be away, but that he loved them and would miss them, both of which were true. For Sirius, he left a note on the kitchen table, in the Muggle pen and ink he kept in the flat. The message was simple:
Padfoot,
I love you. I will miss you. Please take good care of yourself, so that you are here and whole upon my return. I will try to do the same.
Yours always,
Moony***

Summary
“You’re trying to tell me I might have a child in the world,” Sirius interrupted.
“Yes,” Dumbledore said. “Your private life is your private life, but, based on the evidence I have, it seems likely.”
There was a heavy silence, and Fawkes eventually trilled softly.
“There has to be some mistake,” Sirius said. “That fall, I was so caught up with James and Lily, Harry, the war. I didn’t. There was no one. Not even.” Sirius stopped, swallowed. He thought back, flipped through those chaotic last months before Halloween. He had broken up with Remus in early September, starting with a slow, icy loss of contact and ending with a formal refusal to continue their relationship, intimate or otherwise. Remus’ young face swam into Sirius’ vision, pale and exhausted and resigned, and so very, very sad. Sirius swallowed.

Summary
“But Claudia said you weren’t a candidate?”
“She did.”
“But that makes no sense, unless she’s wrong about something, but she’s normally wonderful.”
“Sirius. Padfoot. Let’s have lunch, talk about this later, okay? Maybe tonight?”
But Sirius’ eyebrows were still drawn together. “You’re an excellent candidate. Good age, proven track record with lycanthropy and have an official diagnosis, stable work and home life, not that those are impediments anyway, nor should they be. Excellent health, unless Claudia found something off, like with your heart –"
Now Sirius sounded worried. “Nothing like that, Padfoot. I promise.”
“Then I really don’t understand,” Sirius continued. “With your age, history, and a clean medical case, the only reason someone like you could possibly be rejected is a pregnancy, and that’s just ridiculous.” Sirius frowned.
Remus immediately looked down out of instinct, because he definitely didn’t want Sirius to see what had probably become written there at the word ridiculous.
***
Instead of getting the Wolfsbane potion, Remus gets a surprise, though it's one he really should have expected.
