" Of course, Kirara falls. It's film writing 101. The Gintama writers want to have a Kubrick moment too.
Gintoki's body, thankfully, responds before his brain has even processed it. Before she's out of sight, he is launching himself after her. He has no plan except jumping himself, only barely registering that Sougo has thrown him a chain as he plunges into empty air. Against all odds, he manages to grab her hand.
She squeezes back. Because of course she does. No one jumping off a building actually wants to die.
Shinpachi holds a brief, sign-based conversation with her from a nearby building. Kirara's suicidal tendencies fade from her like they were never there in the first place. Gintoki kicks through a window once everyone has had a sufficiently heartfelt arc, safely depositing Kirara inside and ignoring the way the shattered glass scratches his own skin. The paramedics rush in and they don't even look at him, because Kirara clearly needs immediate psychiatric intervention. She just fell off a roof. Gintoki just jumped after her. "

Someone's saying something. They're next to him, he thinks. He has no idea what they're saying. As soon as the blindfold went on, he'd gone still. His limbs had locked up without his input. Even if he'd wanted to keep moving, he couldn't. The forced darkness had sent his thoughts straight into an all-encompassing count, the numbers steadily ticking up.
Senku drifts in the darkness. All he knows is the counting. The numbers steadily tick up past the triple digits. They pass the four digits.
He keeps counting.

“Kid, calm down… it's okay.” Stanley said, his voice low and calming, rumbling against Senku's frame. Senku shuddered violently.
“It's- not..” Senku sniffled. His breath shuttered his entire chest. “Didn't you- didn't you see? Katsumi-san-”
The hand stopped petting him. Senku felt his chest heave with emotion and agony.
“... you're smart. Me and Xe’ both know that.” The man said carefully. “...Kid, understand this, please…” Senku's heart stuttered, and he sobbed into the man's chest-
“Xeno's protecting you.” Stanley's hand put a grounding pressure on his spine. “...He's protecting you,” Stanley held him closer. “Okay?”
Senku’s heart shattered like a glass balloon.
...
(or, Senku was targeted by bad people for his intelligence. There was only so much his old man, Xeno, and his husband Stanley could do- but trauma doesn't just go away, especially when Senku chronically represses all of his bad memories.)
