"They had already played this game thrice now, including the one exception they had gotten, but Jisung didn't think he would ever get used to the way Chenle's eyes focused in on him while a pepero stick was clutched between his lips. It felt like the inevitable would happen, like there was no way to avert a lightning from striking exactly where it shouldn't.
Two steps ahead and Jisung's breathing hitched. His chest didn't feel as tight anymore, as tight as it had the first time, but the warmth that eased his anxiety burnt up his insides like a forest fire. The smoke snaked its way through his ribcage, creeping up his collarbones, poking against the top of his shoulders like thousands of little needles.
And Chenle's hands prevented them from leaving, putting them on top of his shoulders, fingers tapping a code Jisung wasn't meant to understand. The smoke swirled beneath his shoulder blades with cries of help, but Chenle's only help consisted of a twin fire to ease the loneliness."

“Roleplay?” Gunwook gapes. He stares at Matthew, who’s being utterly, devastatingly sincere. That light in his eyes is still going. And Gunwook can’t lie, the prospect of roleplaying a situation where Matthew is his girlfriend—boyfriend?—he can get behind it. It takes him a second, but then he’s galvanized, sitting up and fixing his suit jacket. “Uh, okay,” he tries to sound less enthusiastic than he is. “I mean, I guess.”

And it is, mostly. It's just that Lando can't quite shake the feeling of being a man out of place and out of time, with a million and one expectations for him that are growing increasingly difficult to keep up with.
