  Summary

  Nicoló di Genova and his relationship with destiny, fate, pre-determination, what-have-you, over the course of a millennium.
   

  God was with him. Of that Nicoló had been sure of all his life. Why would now be different? He thought of his piety and the training he had tried to escape his entire life but had never been able, the training that he excelled at despite it all, and realized that this must have been His plan all along. These two disparate parts of himself that he always felt were in conflict found genesis here and now. And if this was God’s plan, if this was his divine mandate and Nicoló’s destiny, then who was Nicoló to question or doubt it?

  Summary

  Shouta and Hizashi are back home, taking some time off: Shouta to heal, and Hizashi to help him. But Hizashi feels like he's not doing nearly enough for someone who means so much to him.

  "Hizashi had helped Shouta clean his wounds and ice his bruises before, of course. Many times. But never any injuries even close to this. And it made him feel helpless.
  So Hizashi’s gut roiled and burned with guilt at every muted flinch of Shouta’s as he changed out the bandages on his arm, cleaning the cuts on them as he went."

  Summary

  Yamada Hizashi was organized to an extreme seen by no one else (no one else he knows anyway). He had long since prepared backups to his normal schedule should anything out of the ordinary occurred, as often happened in his line of work. But he has recently realized the one flaw in what he thought was a flawless system.
