Summary
Eddie Diaz isn’t one for dramatics, he doesn’t believe in the supernatural, he’s a logical and mostly private, quiet guy who chooses his words carefully. One of the last times he’d been in this very hospital, he’d chosen “Because Evan...” and he’s never meant anything more sincerely. He’s careful and collected and he’s reliable in traumatic situations- he’d learnt the art of compartmentalization long before it became an Army job requirement. Except, it’s Evan and his pinpricked vision is getting narrower and narrower as he continues to ponder what he’s supposed to do if they entered the ER as five and leave as four. An insidious voice that sounds like a warped version of himself hisses that the others would be leaving as three in the instance that Buck didn’t make it through.
Or: Eddie (and Bobby, and Buck) respond to the trauma of 6x10 and 6x11 in just over 9,000 words.
