A queen looking down, as he knelt before a statue—except that the statue did nothing but shake her head. In the night, it was easy to get carried away. Especially when you're drunk, which Colin certainly is. He was dizzy and he would surely vomit soon if it went on like this—but to hell if he didn't want to see her.
"I think you heard me."
She heard him, definitely.
"Don't marry him..." Colin repeated a third time. And the words fell like a heavy stone from his lips—slobbering his tongue, stumbling with the air. Colin had always been one to act on his impulses. His mouth spoke when his brain yelled at him to stay quiet. That's why he felt such a rush of relief—of release—as he scream something he should have said a long time ago.
