Summary
“It’s just that I’ve never—” Jake stops, a chill running through him. The words fizzle out on the tip of his tongue even as his heart rate speeds up, his fight-or-flight response activated.
“Never what?” Bradley’s forehead furrows, and Jake can almost hear the gears of his overactive brain working furiously. “Oh, with a guy?”
Jake nods slowly, allowing the misconception for now. The truth is he’s never done this with anyone.

Summary
Bradley’s fingers caress the keys deftly, coaxing a bittersweet melody from the depths of the piano’s body.
Then he starts singing, a few lines here and there almost like an afterthought. His voice is low and husky, lends itself naturally to this sort of soppy and overly sentimental love song. He doesn’t seem to notice Jake being there at all.
Despite himself, Jake is transfixed.
(Or, three distinct episodes in their lives where Bradley plays the piano and Jake listens.)

Summary
Jake’s lips thin, tremble imperceptibly. He desperately wills the words to stay inside but they bubble out of him, blistering and blunt, nearly a decade old.
It’s the longest he has ever managed to hold his tongue.
“I’ve always liked you, Rooster,” he says, very quietly. “You’re the one who’s never liked me.”

Summary
When they first meet, Jake presumes the callsign has to do with the size of Rooster’s dick. He certainly swaggers around like he thinks he has a big one, that’s for sure.

Summary
Bradley runs warm by nature, always has. Today, half an hour after exercise, he’s practically a radiator. He figures he can be generous enough to share the surplus heat rather than suffer through the nuisance of watching Seresin gradually edge closer to hypothermia.
(In which Hangman is often freezing and Bradley, who is a human furnace, notices and starts feeling begrudgingly obliged to do something about it.)
