Summary
Wonder Woman Ascendancy follows Diana of Themyscira as she navigates a cosmic trial to determine her place among the gods. The story begins with a vision from the Oracle of Delphi warning of Olympus's fall and the rising power of Darkseid. Diana’s mother, Queen Hippolyta, offers wisdom, urging Diana not to let prophecy dictate her path. When Darkseid's forces invade, Diana, aided by gods like Orion and Big Barda, battles to protect Olympus, but they are ultimately overrun. Darkseid seeks to consume the divine, and Diana faces a choice between power and self-preservation.
As the gods debate, Diana's resolve leads her to claim a shard of the Source, symbolizing her ascension. Despite fears and sacrifices, including the collapse of Olympus and the death of many gods, Diana pledges to rise from the ashes, not as a ruler but as a protector. She faces trials that challenge her essence, culminating in her acceptance of divine responsibility, despite the potential cost to her identity. Her strength and unwavering belief in hope are central themes, leading to her eventual transformation and the beginning of a new era of gods.
