He wants to think about Eddie in that hospital room, saying no one will fight for my son as hard as you, the greatest act of trust — without thinking about everything that came before that conversation and every horrific thing that could come of it.
He can’t.

Summary
Something was off, and for the life of him, Buck couldn’t figure out what it was.
It was just another perfect, busy morning in Buck’s perfect, busy life. A life that Buck loved, because he got to wake up next to Eddie, and his brain pills were nestled right between Chris and Eddie’s in the medicine cabinet, and he got to make lunch and dinner for his boys, and tell them bad jokes, and step his big feet on their toes because their cozy house was getting too small, and they were thinking about buying something bigger, and Buck had picked up a pamphlet about adoption from the California Department of Social Services when he and Eddie were at the courthouse to pick up their marriage license.
But something was definitely wrong. Buck could feel it, like a word at the tip of his tongue that he just couldn’t remember.

It happens naturally, is the thing. So, so naturally that Buck doesn't even notice it happened, at first, not until he's sitting at the table in the station, coffee in his hands, talking to Bobby. Obviously, the realization hits him in the middle of a sip and he inhales enough coffee to make him seriously consider never touching a mug again, while he's retching over the sink trying to get it all out.
Or: Buck kisses his best friend, realizes he's in love with him and is a disaster about it. Eddie is confused, but decides to go with it. Christopher would like them to stop, please, he's getting a headache.
