    With a pounding heart, he sat down on the edge of his bed and stared intently at the phone clutched in his trembling hand. The number displayed on the screen was an unrecognizable jumble of glitchy text, hinting at the phone's compromised nature. If this unknown entity could send him a message, perhaps they had the capability to do far worse.

     

    Elliot's eyes widened as a new text message popped up, the ominous words sending a chill down his spine: "Answer me before I rip your guts out." His expression morphed from a fleeting spark of desperate hope to raw, unadulterated fear in the blink of an eye. He could feel the blood draining from his face, his mouth suddenly as dry as a barren desert.
