8 years after the defeat of Team Rainbow Rocket, Selene, the undefeated champion of Alola, is invited to the foreign Remnal region to help run their first-ever tournament in almost a millennium. Taking on the ceremonial role of the region's semi-mythical “Goddess of Battle”, she seeks to reignite Remnal’s dormant fighting spirit.
However, things quickly go awry as a fanatical group calling itself “Team Lumina” worships Selene as a herald of Arceus and begins causing havoc in her name.Naturally, Lillie, now Selene’s girlfriend, accompanies her on this busy holiday, but shrinking in her true love’s shadow awakens a part of her that she thought nonexistent. Joining the tournament under an alter ego, Lillie is determined to prove herself, fighting an uphill battle that would end with her facing the goddess herself. As Lillie confronts enemies inside and out, she must be careful not to become the very person she hates most.
