Summary
Akechi Goro leaped before looking - it was a simple opening, a simple proposition that would ingratiate him with his prime suspects. Their voices matched the ones he heard in Madarame's Palace. All he needed to do was confirm his suspicions. He rounded the corner and steel grey eyes focused on him as he appeared, sending his words to the back of his throat. Akechi's perfect smile bought him time, it always did. He was pleasant enough despite the empty-eyed looks possessed by the ones with lighter hair. Before continuing on his way after a miscommunication about food, he glanced over his shoulder, staring back at the lensed eyes that practically pinned him against the wall.
Akechi set a task to add Amamiya Ren to his plans, unaware that he had already revealed his hand.

A retelling of Persona 5 Royal, swapping between Joker and Akechi's perspectives with a heavy emphasis on Shuake/Akeshu. Original, mostly canon-compliant events have been added, tweaks to certain events to adjust for pacing, and the relationship between Joker and Akechi has been incorporated without changing the general course of the story.

“T-tanjiro?!” their mother asked from the other side of the room where she’d been building the fire to prepare their breakfast. He didn’t respond, not even closing the door behind him. Their mother looked over to Nezuko who met her worried gaze.
“He had a bad dream,” she said softly.
But something told her it was worse--so much worse--than that.

Onii-chan? he thought. Something you call your older brother. The familiar girl tried to help him up, ushering him from where he was laying down in the cold snow in front of the doorway and inside the small home where the sickly sweet smell was stronger. The girl paled as soon as she opened the dilapidated door, but she steeled herself and guided him inside, and it was then that he saw it, the carnage that was inside of what used to be a quaint little home. Corpses of people strewn about carelessly, their blood seeping through the tatami floor— Mom, Takeo, Hanako, Shigeru, Rokuta — seemingly against his will, his knees crumpled down onto the floor, tears filling his eyes as his throat let out the most agonizing sound…

He needn't have worried. The small one was strong.
He sees the human many more times since then. It seems as if the herd doesn't venture out without it. He wonders if that one is the pack-leader. It seems logical, but humans are not always creatures of logic.
He forces back memories of that one, and continues to shadow the herd whenever it ventures out. He makes a habit of waiting in the small grouping of trees near the gate so as not to miss one of their outings. Eventually he learns to distinguish the small one from the others even before it takes to the air, and he feels proud of this accomplishment.
Months later, only hours after the humans had returned behind their walls, everything changes.
(In which Eren is not a human that can turn into a Titan, but a Titan that can turn into a human.)
