    Midoriya Izuku was a liar.

     

    He’d been lying long before he’d met All Might all those fateful months ago, and the hole he’d dug had only gotten deeper and deeper until he could no longer breathe. He was drowning, but he couldn’t find it in himself to fight against the waves and stay afloat. Instead he let the ice cold water fill his lungs and drag him down into the dark depths, welcoming unconsciousness with open arms.

     

    It’s not like anyone cared enough to notice, anyway.

When he came back to consciousness, he realized that he was laying in the cold ground, his eyes looking at the sky above. He had landed back first into the hard cement and pain was radiating from his lower back to his whole body.

    Taking a final pull, Izuku crushed his butt against the wall and flicked it into a nearby bin. Practice what you preach and all that. He stood and stretched his neck, absent mindedly checking the time and mentally planning his route to the gathering. He was dog tired, more so than usual, but the instinct to push through was so familiar by now that cancelling barely crossed his mind.

    "Toshi is gonna kill me" He scuffed his boot miserably against the floor and dread filled him. Both the inevitable dress down and the loud music were sure to kill him. 

    "I've earned the right to be a bit melodramatic, haven't I?"

    Then proceeds to the do the most dramatic thing possible and have a serious medical emergency.
