Hank had always wanted kids. His first son comes unexpectedly, turning his whole life upside down. Cole is born with wide green eyes filled with wonder, and Hank loves him more than he ever thought possible.
His second son comes not long after, though he's much older than the first. Gavin is an insufferable little shit, but Hank wouldn't trade him for the world.

“I mean it, Gavin,” Hank said. “If Price even looks at you funny, if he gives you any shit—” he took a step closer to Gavin to make sure that the younger man was listening “—you come to me immediately. Do you understand?”
Gavin didn’t answer. He began to fidget considerably by Hank's proximity, but it didn’t seem to be from anger. It was almost as if he was getting upset.
He hadn’t looked over at Hank since he started talking to him directly. Chris and Connor exchanged glances. Connor’s interest was more than piqued. Hank was acting odd. Almost… protective? Was that the word? Protective over Gavin?
“Gavin?” Hank called again and Gavin’s attention finally snapped to the acting captain.
“Yes. Hank. I understand.”
An accident at a neighboring precinct has two departments sharing office space, but Gavin and Hank have murderous beef with the guest lieutenant and Connor is determined to find out why.

For a moment Xisuma feels as though the world has dropped out from under him— as though he has been sundered from it, and there is nothing below or around him as far as the eye can see— as though there is no anchor and nothing to grab hold of, only himself and a vastness on all sides. This world that he has built, the world his players have built— negligible, at best, hardly realer than a flicker on a silver screen. It would crumple like wet paper, if he told it to.
He is the universe cradling his players, holding them in his palm above a silence that’d claim them if he let it claim them. It would have had Scar. It would have had Cleo. It would have Joe, now, if he allowed it. They are so terribly fragile.
