Summary
River’s face is full of warmth. Johnny feels it, the warmth of his gaze, the smile, the coldness of his beer in hand, the yelling of the kids in the background. Fuck, he thinks, this is kind of idyllic.
Johnny falls in love.

Summary
He learns early on that there are different versions of her depending on the situation. Some are obvious. V with a drop of someone else’s blood smeared on her cheek. Valerie asleep in his bed, rolled up into a ball with her mouth slightly open. There’s a third he’s been noticing, someone he can’t name, more brash than V, less open than Valerie. Less comfortable than Valerie and more reckless than V. Rude, almost.
When she comes to his house and sits on the porch with her legs up on the table and a lit cigarette dangling from her lips, he knows that mysterious third is here but he doesn’t know what to call it.

Summary
He exhales, shifting, visibly as on edge as V feels right now. Fuck, she’s getting a little worked up by so much as the proposition, which is… confusing. “You’re still going, which gets me going, which puts us both in a fuckin’--”
“Feedback loop,” V concludes. Fuck. He’s got a point. An actual, legitimate point.

In which V and Johnny look for convenience and find something deep, confusing, and potentially tragic.

Summary
When she was about six, she used to have this nightmare about a face suspended over a void. It wasn't a human face, but it was not exactly inhuman either, and the more she stared at it, the more obvious it became that something about it was gravely, impossibly wrong. If someone asked, which no one did, this is how she'd describe what stumbling upon a second mind in your head felt like.
— or, V has a simple, elegant solution to sharing her head with Johnny Silverhand: she doesn’t acknowledge his existence. mostly canon-compliant scenes about all the ways our defense mechanisms are helpful, and all the ways they’re not. very, very mild Johnny/V—blink and you’ll miss it.
