Yet, as he met Raine’s pleading gaze and took in Eda’s own worn out, harried eyes, he knew his heart led this next act. They were all hitched up to one big precarious play in the morning anyway–one he’d helped organize–what was one small act of kindness at the end of the world? (This was a precious thing, and didn’t he understand what influence an outfit could have over one’s heart?)
