It brushed the stream of flashing updates aside, and waited resignedly for the input startup to complete. It wasn't uncommon for mech titans to be restarted mid-battle, and this certainly wasn't the first time it's had to wait out a startup sequence.

"BT, I-" His voice caught, and he went silent, frozen and staring at BT like he was a ghost. Upon meeting his eyes, he could see panic etched in his expression. Through their link, he felt a wild concoction of emotions... none of them very positive.

— About what? — he tilted his head to the side.
— The past, just that — he sighed, for a moment he felt his body lose strength, like if he was falling asleep, but that shouldn't be, he just drank coffee — Are you moving something in my head? — he questioned incriminatory.
— I've done nothing! — Venom said offended.
Eddie had to lean on the counter, his head felt numb and his body weary, he hadn't the energy to argue back.
— Whatever — he said, then splashed water on his face, stood upright and went to his desk, he still has an article to finish for tomorrow.
Eddie is so tired, so so so tired and Venom will try to help him.

Summary
We don’t need anyone but us, Eddie. Venom’s voice in his head sounds deeper and fuller somehow as a tendril slides out of his shoulder, plucks the Hawaiian shirt out of his hands, and shoves it back onto the hanger. We are the best and other people are losers.
“I’m a loser,” Eddie mumbles, as the same black tendril pulls a white v-neck t-shirt out of a drawer and drops it into his hands. “Shouldn’t I spend time with other losers?”
You are special. The tendril digs into the closet again. Put that on.
Eddie shrugs and pulls the t-shirt on. Venom occasionally insists that they be allowed to dress Eddie and he never really fights it. Actually, it’s kind of nice to have someone make the decision for him and then purr in his head about how good he looks.
OR
Eddie Brock and Venom are still on the lam, living in a studio apartment in a fishing town. Now that they are away from San Francisco and no one is trying to kill them, their relationship slowly starts to change.

Max has a mind-spider. Max's mind-spider has a malfunction. Max has a malfunction! Max definitely doesn't need any help to deal with his malfunction, he can fix it himself. Although, he is having a little trouble locating his phone... Or, a little trouble remembering what a "phone" is. But he DOES remember what an "optional beta update" is and he DEFINITELY doesn't want... Oops, too late. Watch Max have a fight with a pleasure-and-pain-inducing mind-control device that was built by the lowest bidder. It only wants to keep him happy and productive... and it has a learning algorithm trying desperately to figure out how to do that.
