Summary
Kaeya was pretty sure he’d learned how to cook before he had even learned how to read or write.
He vividly remembered watching his mother make things, her hands gentle but firm whenever she kneaded dough or mixed ingredients, a myriad of smells spreading through the kitchen as she worked. She’d let him help with simple tasks until he was old enough to help out for real; half the fun of eating a meal had been the satisfaction of making it together.
Then there was the time he’d spent with the Ragnvindrs, Adelinde so surprised at the fact he knew his way around a kitchen and even more so when she learned he wasn’t a picky eater, unlike some other kid she knew. Diluc claimed he could always tell when Kaeya had helped cook something because it tasted even better, and Kaeya would never forget the praise Crepus had given them for making a fancy birthday cake together.
He had liked cooking, once upon a time, but that felt like a lifetime ago now.
---
Or: Kaeya's opinion of cooking over the years, and how it affects his relationships with others.

Summary
‘I am aware it was intended as a taunt, but even the most atrocious lies usually have some truth woven into them.’ Venti explained, sounding even more vague than before. ‘Do you really think the world would be better off without you?’
Ah.
So that’s what this was about.
‘You don’t have to worry about me leaping from your statue anytime soon if that’s what you’re thinking.’ Kaeya said, before crossing his arms and sinking back into his chair uncomfortably. ‘I’m here now, so I might as well make the most of it.’
‘But when given the choice…?’
‘If you must know, I do think a significant amount of people could have been spared some trouble if I’d never made it to Mondstadt.’ he admitted against his better judgement. ‘But whatever, I guess.’
Instead of looking amused or smug, Venti just looked concerned. There was that same look of pity in his eyes as Diluc had had moments before, and it bothered Kaeya to no end.
‘You truly believe that, don’t you?’
---
Or: Kaeya is convinced the world would be better off without him in it. In order to prove him wrong, Venti shows him a glimpse of what such a world would look like.
Kaeya does not like what he finds.

Summary
Diluc was secretive about his time away from Mondstadt. Kaeya knew this all too well, having spent countless evenings in the tavern with his questions dodged and unanswered. Anytime something remotely related to his travels was being talked about, the topic of conversation was switched.
Though, when an unfamiliar man came in one night claiming he recognized Diluc, things changed.

Summary
Kaeya leaned heavily against the door, every ounce of bravado gone. His lips curved into the faintest of smirks, but his voice was nothing more than a hoarse whisper.
“…Need a favor, brother.”
And then his knees gave out.
———
Or, A simple patrol leaves Kaeya with nothing more than a scratch—or so he thinks. But when the wound festers with abyssal corruption, his pride drives him to hide it until it nearly kills him.
