No one really talked about them, but there were definite downsides to being a prince, especially a crown prince. A prince’s life was to be lived for the betterment of his kingdom. And so every decision he made was done with his people in mind and not based on his own wants and desires. What he wanted wasn’t allowed to matter. A prince was raised with this knowledge. It was a simple fact of his life. A prince was forever striding towards an impossible goal of perfection. Never allowed to truly be who he wanted to be. No matter how much he might love his kingdom, a piece of him would always long for the freedom to follow a path he chose.
