As he prepared himself for his final slumber, the voice made itself known to him once more. He had no clue why his system held onto this specific fragment of his former life, but the mysterious warmth and comfort that it invoked ensured his tolerance for it. He might as well be accompanied by a pleasant feeling as he allowed himself to expire.
If only those damned people would stop hunting him down.

Anya doesn’t blame Cara. No matter how hard she tries, every look into the girl’s eyes reminds Anya that she was as much a victim in all this as she was. If Anya had the means, she would’ve spared Cara from all this. The Tulpar provided no contraceptive, no Plan B or morning after, and no qualified professionals to perform an abortion. Jimmy’s torture expanded far beyond his scalding hands on Anya’s pale skin, because Cara had come out with ash on her face and burn marks over her heart. And worst of all, Anya couldn’t bring herself to tend the wounds. She hates herself, as much as she hates Jimmy and as much as she hates Cara.
