    Looking up, Xie Lian was instantly transfixed, gazing deeply into an eye that wanted nothing to do with him and everything to do with the ceiling above. The longer he stared, the more enamoured he became with the tinge of red in the tops of Hua Cheng’s cheeks; so much so that he began to blush himself, though he didn’t know why.

    Xie Lian glanced at the slip again, studying the strokes of each word very carefully. His lips slowly curled up into a bashful smile. With the exception of a few “desperate times call for desperate measures” situations, he’d never kissed anyone in front of an audience before. Never an audience of this size. That he would pull such a slip as this had to be purely his luck—surely not the result of a certain someone meddling with the game.
