Or, Dream gets thrown in the prison for his crimes, comes out different, and Phil comes to the realization that he’s adopted a fourth son.

“You— You’re acting odd, Dream, why are you acting odd? Has the prison gotten to you already? Has it made you all wonky in the head?”Dream huffed, “My head’s fine, Tommy, thanks. And I don’t know what you mean by that.”
“You’re being weird.”
“How weird?”
“I don’t know, just… weird.” He looked Dream up and down. “You stand different and you laugh different, it’s freaky.”
Whoever this Dream was that everyone here knew, he had more relationships than Dream ever had in his entire life combined.
Whether that was a good or a bad thing remained to be seen.
Or, an on-the-run Dream finds himself in the body of his alternate self. Then proceeds to get locked up. Great, his alternate self just had to be a bastard.
(Meanwhile, said alternate self decides the best course of action is recruiting a familiar ally to help him get back. No way that could backfire.)
(or, or, the fic where manhunt!Dream and dsmp!Dream swap places and no one is happy about it.)

He found a note on his desk. A simple, harmless, yellow sticky note with the small message of "have a nice day :)" scrawled on it in pen. Honestly, it wasn't very out of place in the sea of reminders that Dream wrote for himself. The only thing off about it was that he had no memory of writing it.

"Let's start making it happen." As soon as those words fell out of Schlatt's mouth, a bright light nearly blinded everyone as well as the sound of a portal's unnatural hum.
When the light died down and everyone got their vision back, a portal, structured like a Nether Portal but built out of metal and stone, glowing silver, stood right between and before the stage and the audience. They were stunned as a figure came out of said portal, tall, decked out in full enchanted netherite. A man with a familiar mask but unfamiliar clothes stood.
"Where's Dream?" The man with the red hood, wearing Dream's mask immediately asked.
Before anyone could even react or answer, the portal behind him flared brightly and the man jumped away with an annoyed grunt as another man decked in netherite tumbled out of the silver glowing portal. Wild dark hair, dark blue eyes, burnt scars underneath his chin-
"Tubbo?" Tommy muttered in surprise, somehow recognizing him as his best friend.
"Tommy!" The older Tubbo screamed, but not at Tommy who stood beside Wilbur. But at the masked man with the red hood.
Two broken men stay in the past in hopes of a better future.
